During his many years of career, he assumed important positions of responsibility in the state apparatus , serving, among others, as director in the Deputy Ministries of Tourism, Export Trade and Foreign Affairs, as well as on the Board of Directors of the “Red Cross” hospital.
His political career was sealed in November 2024, when he chose to leave New Democracy , publicly expressing his disagreement with the dismissal of former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, with whom he maintained a deep and long-standing friendship.
The news of his loss spread sadness, with Antonis Samaras publicly expressing his heartbreak , bidding farewell to a “genuine, authentic and tireless fighter of the Party” . Characterizing him as more than a close collaborator, the former prime minister closed his farewell with the moving words: “Goodbye George! Goodbye brother…” , honoring a man who identified his life with ideas, camaraderie and selfless service.
