Faithful to its roots, Orthodox tradition and the deep faith of its ancestors, the historical Association of Evrytania of America “Panagia Prousiotissa” is preparing to honor with all magnificence the memory of its patroness and patroness of Evrytania. This year’s splendid festive events will be hosted at the Holy Church of St. Nicholas in Flushing, New York , where the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary is treasured as a precious spiritual refuge, serving as a point of reference and unity for the entire community.
The celebration program opens on Saturday, August 22nd with the Solemn Vespers with Artoklasia and the devout procession of the holy icon, while it will culminate on Sunday, August 23rd with the celebration of the Solemn Divine Liturgy.
Immediately after Vespers, the gathering of the Evrytanians will be moved to the “Sarantakeio Hall” , where the Association will host a reception and traditional treats, renewing the strong bonds of the community.
A special and moving moment of the evening will be the practical support of the new generation, through the awarding of scholarships to outstanding graduates Dimitris Triantafylis and Lia Kalargyrou, rewarding their ethos and academic effort.
Founded in 1912 , the Association is among the oldest and most historic national-local associations in America. With an active and leading role within the Federation of Central Greece and the Federation of Greek Associations of Greater New York, it continues to continuously defend national issues and offer invaluable work to education, the Church and the beloved homeland, Evrytania .
