The Metropolis of Boston has issued a moving appeal for help and practical solidarity, asking for the assistance of the Greek Diaspora for the Newman family , who have been experiencing the ultimate nightmare in recent days after their home was completely destroyed by a sudden fire. In an announcement posted on the official website of the Metropolis, the faithful are invited to stand by the family, demonstrating that compassion and generosity are the main pillars of the community in the darkest moments.
The tragedy unfolded on May 4, when a fire that started in the garage of the house quickly grew out of control. Strong winds and dry conditions in the area led to the rapid spread of flames to the kitchen and attic, destroying the house where the family had lived for the past seven years and making it completely uninhabitable . Amidst this utter devastation, the only — but most important — miracle was that all members of the family were saved . Alex, his wife, their three children — 12-year-old James, 3-year-old Michael and just 9-month-old Nina — as well as their two beloved dogs, which according to the mother played a decisive role in saving her husband’s life , emerged unscathed from the fiery inferno.
Today, the Newman family is faced with a huge Calvary. Temporarily staying in a hotel and trying to adapt to a violent new daily life with three young children, they are awaiting the decisions of the insurance company, which has already spoken of a “total disaster” . The burden is made even more unbearable by the unforeseen expenses that are accumulating, but also by the fact that the parents have few days of paid leave , as they had only recently returned to work after taking leave for the birth of little Nina.
