The 28-year-old who confessed to the murder of the well-known criminologist Stavros Georgiou is facing serious charges , as criminal prosecution was brought against him for intentional homicide in a calm mental state , as well as for theft and illegal residence in the country .

Shortly before 7 pm on Thursday , he was transferred to the courts of the former Evelpidon School, under a strong police escort, completing the first cycle of the criminal procedure. Testimonies indicate that on Monday night the two men were in the same company , while afterwards Stavros Georgiou allegedly offered to take the 28-year-old to his home. However, before completing the journey, they made a brief stop at the criminologist’s office , where – according to the accused himself – a heated argument broke out that ended in the murder of the 73-year-old.
The Homicide Department continues the investigation, examining every element of the case, in order to accurately determine the circumstances of the crime, but also to determine whether the motive was solely the result of the confrontation between them or if there were other factors that led to the bloody outcome. The answers are expected to be sought both through the defendant’s confession and the completion of laboratory tests and the analysis of all available evidence.
