The dilemmas of Decline...

Tsipras, in his television interview the day before yesterday, gave the slogan:

  • It’s us or no one!

In other words, either his party – ELAS – will win in the upcoming elections, or there will be a lack of governance !

Beyond the absurdity (since ELAS is second in the polls and is falling)

and beyond arrogance (only we exist, and no one else)

Does it remind you of anything?

The corresponding slogan that was dropped a short time ago by the government side:

— Mitsotakis or Chaos!

Strangely, they say exactly the same thing .

And maybe it’s not so “weird” after all.

Traditionally, totalitarian failed leaders say exactly the same thing.

— If we do not govern, there will be anarchy and chaos .

I don’t accuse them of being “totalitarians” . There’s no need…

I am only pointing out the totalitarian nature of this claim.

They do not try to convince people of the correctness of their choices .

They are not trying to show that they have a better plan than everyone else.

They cannot convince citizens to vote for them and are trying to terrorize them!

They have a “totalitarian mentality” because they believe that only they exist .

And they are “failures” because they know they cannot convince .

They just shout that everyone else is much worse …

The most striking thing, however, is that they do not represent anything different .

They express different variations of the same thing .

  • Both have similar economic policies . They generate super-surpluses by taxing everyone, then hand out piecemeal benefits to create clientelistic relationships .

Tsipras did it with direct taxes . Mitsotakis with indirect taxes (and the inflation that arose in the meantime, which greatly helped the over-performance of revenues)…

Mitsotakis denounced Tsipras’s excessive surpluses before 2019.

And now Tsipras is denouncing Mitsotakis’s super-surpluses and asking him to come back to continue generating super-surpluses (by returning to direct taxes).

Instead of abolishing this policy, they are trying to perpetuate it.

Both.

  • On the issue of illegal immigration , they represent exactly the same thing.

In different terms, but if you look at the results of their governance , illegal arrivals and residence permits skyrocketed under Tsipras and more than doubled under Mitsotakis .

  • On the subject of the woke agenda , also the same .

  • On the subject of scandals , Tsipras set up the Novartis conspiracy which turned out to be a major attempt at constitutional subversion . And Mitsotakis covered up those who set it up! And then he too proceeded with their own OPEKEPE scandals, illegal wiretapping , etc. And he even came into conflict with the European Prosecutor …

  • Under the Tsipras government , Convention 717 for trains was dismantled , which had been signed under the Samaras-Venizelos government in 2014, and which, as European officials admitted, if it had been implemented, the terrible accident would not have occurred . Because that Convention provided for remote control , automatic braking and intercommunication of trains .

And then the Mitsotakis government came and proceeded with the electrification of trains – with twice the speed of before – without the safety features of remote control, automatic braking and intercom. As a result, the terrible accident in Tempi two 24 hours before the official inauguration of the “new era for Greek railways” ! With 57 dead …

  • The Prespa Agreement for Skopje was signed during the Tsipras government.

And under the Mitsotakis government, the “Prespes of the Aegean” are being prepared with Turkey.

— In “Tsipras’ Prespes”, Greece waived its future veto on Skopje’s EU accession. However, Bulgaria did not give up…

— In the Aegean Sea , which is now being prepared, Greece is being called upon to renounce its sovereign rights in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, sovereign rights that Ankara is already in effect violating with the Turkish-Lybian Memorandum , the marine parks it announces, permanent Navtex in the Aegean , etc.

  • During the Tsipras government, as executives from his then government admit today, the middle class was squeezed .

Under the Mitsotakis government, as the numbers show, the middle class was squeezed even further . Despite the growth that occurred after the exit from the memoranda. Despite the additional growth that occurred with the Recovery Fund. Nevertheless, today the average real disposable income of Greece is in last place in the EU , together with Bulgaria! And much lower than it was even during the period of the memoranda.

  • During the Samaras government, a new modern electricity production plant from domestic lignite was inaugurated in Ptolemaida . During the Tsipras government, it did not operate. During the Mitsotakis government , it was permanently closed . And today it is being replaced with an imported natural gas unit!

Meanwhile, Germany inaugurated in 2022 (eight years after Greece) a unit of the same technology as that of Ptolemais, with the prospect of its use until 2037. And the possibility of expansion until 2042.

  • There are many differences between Tsipras and Mitsotakis – some apparent, others substantial .

But there are also multiple similarities .

— Tsipras began by declaring that he would “tear up the memoranda” and “force Brussels to its knees.”

She ended up becoming their most loyal therapist .

— Mitsotakis never claimed such “glories”

He was completely loyal to the instructions from Brussels from the beginning.

When Brussels proclaimed what later turned out to be a “forced” green transition , Mitsotakis fully aligned himself: he denounced hydrocarbon extraction at the United Nations as “outdated” and “failed investments” .

And then, when the dead ends of this strategy became apparent, when Trump was elected in the US and the political balance in Brussels began to change, Mitsotakis “discovered” hydrocarbons again . And he brought Chevron to begin exploration in Greek plots, from which the French Total and the Spanish Repsol had previously withdrawn.

  • Both are struggling to prove who best implements Brussels’ policies that are already failing , already causing “explosions” across Europe , and are already being revised.

— Tsipras is struggling to prove that he is not the same as before .

That is why he has removed all the key government officials that he himself appointed during his administration.

Mitsotakis is struggling to prove that he is the “continuity” of his party , when he has deleted one of its former leaders and former Prime Minister, Samaras , and when he has removed its other former leader and former Prime Minister, Costas Karamanlis . And when he has already lost more than half of his voters , since 2023!

In the first case, Tsipras is trying to forget his recent history and appear as a “mutated” Center-Left .

In the second case, Mitsotakis has already created a “mutated” party , which has cut bridges with the history of his faction .

Both of them don’t want to remember their past .

Not because they are trying to get rid of their “burdens” and move towards a more “hopeful future” .

But why do both converge – from different starting points – on the same current decline ?

— Tsipras has shaken off the trappings of the “Radical Left” and is trying to join the Party of European Socialists .

At a time when this party is weakening almost everywhere in Europe . And where it is not weakening, it is because it is joining the positions of its opponents…

Mitsotakis remains attached to the ideals of a European Center-Right that is more… “far-center” than “right” . And that is shrinking everywhere! And when it is not shrinking, it is because it is clearly moving further to the right .

Both converge, from different starting points, on the same illusions , on the same decline , on the same euro-impasses .

At a time when societies everywhere are looking for an alternative solution to get out of Decline …

  • Mitsotakis cannot be an “alternative solution” to… himself!

And Tsipras cannot be an “alternative solution” to Mitsotakis.

It’s not “alternative” – they represent the same thing .

And it’s not a “solution” – they are trapped in the same dead ends .

  • And one last thing they have in common:

They cannot cope with extremes .

Tsipras expressed and covered the far left for years.

And as for the other extreme, the neo-Nazi “Golden Dawn” , for five years Tsipras has not managed to find a court to try it!

For seven years, Mitsotakis has failed to have Kasidiaris’ conviction finalised at the Supreme Court…

  • Mitsotakis considered Tsipras an “ideal opponent” in the elections. “Ideal” because he had already defeated him twice.

And even more “ideal” , because in essence he is not an “opponent” .

Since they represent the same thing .

But the project doesn’t work…

In the latest polls, Tsipras is probably losing ground , and Mitsotakis has not managed to break out of the stagnation .

The great political vacuum that was created under Mitsotakis still exists. And it is constantly widening .

The dilemma of “either us or no one” convinces no one.

Like the dilemma “either me or chaos” .

Don’t fight, guys…

You are creating the chaos . Both of you!

All that is missing is a proposal that will pull the country out of this decline .

Which was brought to her by both Tsipras and Mitsotakis .
