Harvard University sent an emergency alert to students and staff Monday morning after a bomb threat was made at Memorial Hall.
The alert was sent out around 08:45 local time (15:45 Greek time). Those near the building were asked to remain indoors, while others were asked to avoid the area until further notice.
University police lifted the order around 9:20 a.m., but advised students and staff to continue to avoid Memorial Hall and the Zimmer Hall plaza.
Students were unable to enter Memorial Hall, as police and emergency personnel had set up a security perimeter around the building. Classes in the adjacent Zimmer Hall were held as normal. University bus riders were advised to avoid Memorial Hall, and buses near the building were suspended.
So far, no explosive device has been reported to have been found. More information is awaited from the authorities.
